Home Infusions/Administration of Drugs

Home administration of medicines

Trained nurses can visit patients to monitor their medical health and administer a wide range of treatments, such as home infusions and injections. These medications include antibiotic infusions, chemotherapy products, total parenteral nutrition and immunoglobulin.

We can work in partnership with healthcare professionals and organisations to provide these services across a number of European markets.

High levels of clinical care

Many of the homecare services Alcura provides involve treatments that are normally administered in the hospital setting. That’s why we adhere to the same high levels of clinical care at home.

All products are prepared to patient-specific instructions under the direction of hospital prescribers. Products can be manufactured by hospital pharmacies prior to collection and delivery, or in our own licensed manufacturing units.

Nursing support and self-administration

Trained nurses will oversee the administration of products. They can also train patients to self-administer their own medicines through the use of safe, effective techniques. In addition, nurses can educate each patient about the correct medication storage and disposal of their clinical waste.

Nursing support can also include information on the patients’ specific medical conditions, prescribed treatments and possible side-effects. We can also help patients to understand the importance of regular medicine adherence to optimise their health.

Continued patient support

These home infusions, self-administration and patient education services are fully supported by our patient services teams, ready to assist with any related enquiries.
